Home sweet home
We headed out of NYC ahead of schedule WOW have we got efficient over the last 10 days. This part of the trip is old hat, 95 to something, to 84 to something, to 91, to 95, to 90, to 95, come on you all know this part. We did not get snacks, we only stopped once for Dunkin’s ( finally for Jen) and of course Diet Coke for Leeanne. Of course we rehearsed scenarios all the way home about the next few days and how we will adjust back to life outside the Lani ( Jackie’s Hyundai Elantra) Will we have to stop when we see a gas station because we are so used to it? Will we have to have snacks in the car ride for our little commute’s to work? Will Jackie request an extra key from her dad just out of habit when she comes in? Will we need dinner suggestions from people every single night? Will Jackie set up a continental breakfast tonight before she goes to bed? We amused ourselves for a bit with those. Anyway we rolled into A-town about 2 pm. We are all home safe and sound. There will be a few more posts over the next few days and then a status update on how Jackie is re-adjusting to life on the East Coast too! Something so awesome about looking at a map of the US and thinking YOU drove across all that. Nothing like experiencing tiny parts of the world by stopping in for a night or 2. Hope you enjoyed the “trip” we sure did.

NYC!
The Big Apple, the City that never sleeps, what else can you say about NYC? We heart New York!! We stayed at our most posh digs of the whole trip. The Embassy Suites, we got 2 beds plus a pull out sofa, NICE 3 girls, 3 beds. We walked around Tribecca and picked a lovely restaurant with outdoor seating for dinner. The ambiance was great, the service, not so much. Luckily 2 blueberry mojitos and wine for Jackie helped us chill a little, but after a lot of waiting and watching the staff try to give our appetizer to someone else, we were getting testy, then we waited for our meals while other parties, were seated, then served food even before us. The food was good when we finally got it Jen’s was a bit to spicy and Jackies was only luke warm. We did see Olivia from the City walk right by our table. We walked around some more after dinner and then called it a night. The next morning we went to the bustling breakfast buffet where we snuck one of us in and all 3 got free breakfast, Nice! Hey we are on a budget remember. We were approximately 3 minutes ahead of schedule leaving New York.

Day 9 Chi-Town to Cleveland
See ya later Chicago fun city. Jackie drove and off we went straight through to Cleveland. The scenery was pretty boring, lots of farm animals, and it was smelly too, let me mention that, sometimes VERY smelly. We made pretty good time and hit the Rock and Roll Hall of fame around 4:00 pm and went in to see as much as we could in 1 and a half hours. The Hall of fame was pretty good, if we had more time we could have spent more time there and seen more stuff. We go to our Day’s Inn about 5 miles out of downtown. We get the friendliest, and funniest clerk we have had on the entire trip, he was hilarious. He asked us what group we were with and I replied “just these 2″ he said “name of your group” I reply “three bitches driving across country” he laughed, we loved him. He also tried to pimp some guy Fred on us he is also staying here, apparently a well of man in his 40′s with time & money on his hands. He made a dinner recommendation for a local mexican place which we went to and it was great. Then we went downtown and walked around the Warehouse District which seems like a great little nightlife spot. Off to NYC tomorrow, look out here we come!

Day 8 Des Moines to Chi-town
See you later Des Moines, thanks for having us at the Day’s Inn that I am pretty sure is a converted Church complete with stained glass widows and a front desk clerk who should pray for a sense of humor. We drove a long one today only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks we made it into Chi-town just before dinner time. We stayed in the Lakeside area which was adorable, we walked around for a while before hailing a cab to old town for some Italian Dinner. We were seated right away, outdoors as requested and setteled in for a nice dinner. The waiter may have been related to the kid at the Day’s Inn because not only was he humor deprived he was lacking a personality as well. We made the best of it anyway, the food was fabulous and we met the owner of the place who was charming, (in the old man, confused, and we just let him hang out here still kind of way). After dinner we hailed the cab back to the Best Western, which was one of the nicest hotels so far on the trip. Next stop Cleveland, we will be speeding on, in hopes to make it to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame…
